How do we know that we’re ready to step into our life purpose? Is there such a thing as “the right timing”?
Are you ready? It’s a simple question, isn’t it?
Imagine we’re on our way out for a dinner. Our partner asks us whether we’re ready to go. The answer is simple: Yes or No. We might ask him or her to wait for us to put the right shoes on. Or a jacket. Then we’re ready to go.
What if Life is asking us this question?
Are you ready?
To wake up?
To breakup with the past and its pain?
To behave differently, and risk loosing old friends and partner because we’ve changed?
To say goodbye to the people we love the most so that we can be the person we’re meant to be?
What if we’re paralyzed by fear, but Life is still asking us to step into our Purpose and do it anyway?
Are you ready, then?
Ram Dass has once said that if we’re ready, a leaf falling from a tree can awaken us. But if we’re not, a whole tree can fall on us and nothing happens.
It’s a funny statement, isn’t it? But it’s so true!
The question is; how do we know that we’re ready?
I believe it’s through the feelings of the Heart that we know, assuming that we can understand the language of the Heart.
Because to be ready for Life’s invitation is very different from going with our partner to a dinner party.
We’re not in charge. Life is. That which is bigger than our smallness determines when is the right timing to do anything. And when we’re not aligned with that calling, we’d never feel ready.
Fear would stop us. Worries would stand in our way! Or even excitement would prompt us to take action before the right timing has arrived!
There were times when I wasn’t ready, but I chose to act anyway despite the fear. But there were also times where I procrastinated, even though I knew that Life wanted me to be ready, step forward and act.
Perhaps the biggest obstacle is our fear of the Unknown. It stops us from taking a chance, moving beyond the familiar circumstances to explore new horizons. It comes up with excuses so that we can continue to pretend that everything is OK and we don’t need to change.
With time, we stop listening to the impulse of the Heart. The knowing. The Call.
But this I know: Life would still continue to call you. Whispering the message. Asking you to listen and act upon it.
And it would never stop being patient, and waiting for you to answer the Call!
