Why do we not desire for inner peace the same way we desire for happiness? Can inner peace be the foundation for Life Miracles? Have you truly experienced what inner peace really is?
As human beings we’re driven by dreams, ambitions and goals. And when we get what we’ve desired, we feel a rush of adrenaline, ecstasy, or excitement. These emotions are powerful and they can be the engine that drives our creativity and ambition forward.
Perhaps that’s why inner peace is not desirable? It’s not unusual that some people prefer to experience emotional ups and downs instead of inner peace because they equal inner peace with insensitivity where one doesn’t feel the depth of emotions.
In other words, they think inner peace is boring!
Is it so?
Imagine you’re standing in front of a pond. In your hand there is a rock that is as big as your palm. You throw it hard into the pond and notice that it disturbs the water violently. Now, let’s drive to a lake and you do the same thing. This time, you see that the rock affects the water but not as violently as before.
What if you’re throwing the same rock into the ocean? How much disturbance will there be on the surface? And would it matter once the rock has reached the bottom of the sea?
The rock represents an event, a circumstance that creates any negative or positive emotion. If you’re not spiritually awakened and at peace, whenever life throws a rock at you, your reaction would be like the pond.
The ocean is your conscious perception when you’ve found inner peace. You see, it’s the same rock, but because you’ve realized your true Self, you’re no longer controlled by worldly affairs.
Eckhart Tolle has once said there is a difference between ” I don’t care what will happen” and “I don’t mind what will happen”. When some people claim to have inner peace but their reaction is “I don’t care”, it’s just another aspect of the ego. It’s not about being indifferent, cold or nonchalant to feelings and emotions. Rather, “I don’t mind” is about embracing and accepting everything as it is.
You know the true nature of the rock that Life has thrown at you. But you also realize that you’re the ocean itself and nothing can disturb the depth of Stillness that you’re feeling within.
Inner peace is only boring for the ones who haven’t experienced what it’s like to be truly at peace. Even the most beautiful pond in the world cannot be compared to what the ocean has to offer when comes to beauty.
In the end, there is nothing but Miracles in the mind of the Ones who have realized the Wholeness behind All Things.
