Like a mother waiting for her child to wake up from a coma
And a father expecting his son to come back from war
Like a bird contemplating for the right moment to stretch its wings
I’m waiting
Simply waiting
We have lost patience as a virtue
When we see time running out quickly as sand
Too much to take in and so little space left
In our crazy head where the mind screams for some rest
I have been called many names
Misunderstood as one lost wandering soul
No goals, directions or ambitions
When I was just waiting
Not for something extraordinary
But simply waiting for my heart to be ready
To show me a way forward
In perfect time and perfect moment
guided by the Flow of life
Don’t mistake my non-action attitude
As a lack of power to take charge
Don’t judge my need for solitude
As if I don’t want to feel loved and cared for
Don’t complain I’m going slow
When I stop and smell a tiny flower on a dusty street
Its presence deserves my gratefulness too
I don’t care if you’re the wealthiest man
Or the most powerful woman
If you don’t discover a sacredness in small things
Never will you see the Extraordinary in the Soul of this Earth
What’s good if you then have conquered the world
And built an empire into a prison of your soul?
Still, I wait
For a day where you will wake up
And walk with me with bare feet in the sand
Patience is a virtue for the Ones who see a higher purpose
Of everyone and everything
And the act of waiting itself
Is holy and sacred
Honoring the flowering of each spirit
Always flowing beyond its death
You cannot be patient if you don’t have faith
In something that is bigger beyond yourself
Patience is a virtue for the brave Ones
Who dare to slow down when the world rushes ahead
But then
when I’m worried that I was left behind
A bird sings and brings a gentle fragrance of elderflowers
Reminds me of a simple truth
Nothing can be more patient than my heart
and the Universe itself
Why worry then?
